Every 9th of May, we celebrate Europe Day in honour of the Schuman Declaration that was presented on the 9th of May, 1950.
The Schuman declaration proposed the foundation of the European Coal and Steel Community, which laid the foundations for the European Union as we know it today. The themes outlined in the declaration – cooperation, unity, and peace among European countries – remain as relevant 74 years later.
