Hungary will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Council of the EU is led by one member state for a period of 6-months on a rotating basis. Holding the Presidency entails chairing the meetings of the Council and representing the institution to other EU bodies as well as to the European public. This is the second time that Hungary will hold the Presidency since joining the European Union in 2004.
